Seminary Ensembles

 

dillard-chapel-stain-glass1Southern Seminary Ensembles are open to any seminary student or spouse.   Participating in an ensemble is a great way to use your musical gifts serving the Lord.  Some of our ensembles support Seminary Chapel on Tuesdays and Thursdays plus include other concert opportunities.  Students who are not church music or worship leadership majors can earn elective credit for participating in an  ensemble.  Ensembles are also free of tuition charges.

Southern Chorale (50740) rehearses on Mondays from 4-6pm.   The Chorale sings a variety of sacred choral works both traditional and contemporary.  In addition to preparing concerts each semester, the chorale also provides worship leadership in the seminary Tuesday chapel services.  Dr. Greg Brewton is the director (gbrewton@sbts.edu).  Contact him for more information on Southern Chorale.

Doxology (50770) is a vocal ensemble that  meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:00-6:00pm in the fall and spring semesters.  This auditioned vocal group of 14-16 singers travel once a semester off campus singing in colleges and churches.  The group is also active on campus singing in seminary chapel and other campus events.  For more information on Doxology contact Professor Chuck Lewis (ctlewis@sbts.edu)

Chapel Orchestra (50985) is our Tuesday morning instrumental group supporting seminary chapel services.  The group rehearses on Tuesdays from 9:00-9:50am and supports the music needs of the Tuesday chapel.  Worship Professor Dr. Joe Crider (jrcrider@sbts.edu)  is directing the group.  If you play an instrument, arrange your schedule to join this group on Tuesday mornings.

Southern Seminary Worship Band (50780) supports the Thursday seminary chapel service.  The group meets from 8:00am-9:50am and assists with worship music in chapel.   Interested instrumentalists should contact Dr. Joe Crider (jrcrider@sbts.edu).
